Frequently Asked Questions

Is Adair Funeral Services a member of any funeral associations or organisations? No, we are not members of any funeral associations or organisations because none of the Australian based funeral industry associations and organisations are Governing and therefore have no Government jurisdiction. There are several funeral industry associations and organisations in Australia, and the main requirements for there members is to have complex facilities which usually lead to families paying much more for services that aren’t needed, and we also believe that their main reason for this is to try and get the smaller operators out of the industry because they know that most of the smaller and independently owned operators cannot afford to meet there requirements, and generally speaking, those associations and organisations do not focus on the funeral directors actual ability and experience to deal with complex funeral arranging and conducting, however, the one and only legal requirement for funeral directors in Victoria is to be registered with Consumer Affairs Victoria as a funeral provider and the Adair Funeral Services funeral provider registration number is displayed on our home page.

Is Adair Funeral Services a new business? Our business was first established in 2008 with the intention of only catering for the Maltese community and in 2011 it become very clear that many other communities were engaging our services, so in 2014 our Managing Director decided to re-name the business Adair Funeral Services.

Why aren’t there any prices displayed on your website? At Adair Funeral Services, we believe that funerals should be completely personalised, so we give families personalised quotes based on what they actually need, because the total cost of a funeral is made up of several different products and services and if we were to have prices displayed on our website, we would only be able to display funeral packages.

How does Adair Funeral Services operate? Adair Funeral Services operates in a modern way by being completely mobile providing families with consultations in the comfort of their own home, and all of our mortuary work is conducted at a centrally based mortuary facility in Melbourne.

How do bereaved families engage your services?  Bereaved families will usually select a family member to first call us for a quote so that they can then discuss the estimate and make a thoughtful decision to choose Adair Funeral Services.

Where do you hold non-religious funerals? The non-religious funerals that we conduct are held in cemetery based Chapels where we also conduct certain religious services, such as Hindu and Sikh funerals.
